Unhinged dysfunction, simplistic innocence, suicidal despair, and passionate affection; A rollercoaster of themes that are captured within Jake Kloefkorn’s impactful lyrics. They stem from his own life experiences, those of the people around him, and sometimes not-so-quiet desperation for an idea, as he notes about his song “Smooth”. Jake's music draws heavy influence from a range of bands/artists including Whiskey Myers, Eric Church, Turnpike Troubadours, Koe Wetzel, and Southall.
In his first year after escaping his day job as a climbing arborist, Jake was enveloped within the aura of the music industry, be it solo and independent, and was driven to book over 100 performances. With them came the parties, pleasures, late nights, and lonely travel which one might expect. It also presented an upfront and personal seat so some sinister realities which burden many, such as substance abuse, depression, and more specific events of suicide, and nearly murder.
Since year one, Jake has continued to perform with “a little less” reckless abandon and devoted much of his attention to recent production efforts. “We finally got something right with the song “Seventeen”... So we’re going to pick up where we left off.” An album that captures a tumultuous road is his goal. An album with stories behind it, which can upheave one’s soul and mould them with its emanations.
